CAR T-Cell Therapy In The News
Gating Technology Makes CAR T-Cells More Effective in Preclinical Study
A team led by Shahab Asgharzadeh, MD, demonstrates the efficacy of a novel CAR T-cell therapy in preclinical studies. The team used a new CAR T technology called synthetic Notch (or synNotch). SynNotch CAR T-cells have a gating mechanism that allows them to target specific cancers very precisely.
A Three-Pronged Approach to CAR T-Cell Therapy Could Improve Outcomes
Hisham Abdel-Azim, MD, MS, and colleagues show that CAR T-cells are more effective in fighting leukemia when they are engineered to attack 3 cancer antigens instead of 1. The study was done in preclinical models of leukemia but may provide a foundation for a newer, more powerful CAR T-cell therapy for children.
