Child Life Program

Our specialists promote a positive hospital experience by helping to reduce stress and anxiety. We help your child and their siblings cope with medical issues by spreading joy, providing education and promoting play.
Children’s Optical
If you need eyeglasses or other corrective visual aids for your child, visit our Children’s Optical boutique located on-site in Children’s Hospital Los Angeles—Arcadia. We specialize in child-friendly eyewear, and our offerings include prescription eyeglasses, contacts, frame repairs, protective eyewear and accessories.
We customize lenses and provide proper and comfortable fit for children based on their face shape, nose bridge and temple length. Call 626-303-2030 to schedule an appointment.
Clinical Social Work Program
Children need a lot of support from their parents and family when they are healing. The Clinical Social Work Program at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles makes it our priority to support you. We are here 24/7 to answer questions about your child’s care, provide crisis intervention and connect you with other support resources.
Financial assistance
Children’s Hospital Los Angeles understands that medical expenses often aren’t planned. That’s why we offer several options to help you pay for your child’s care. We accept payment from insurance and other programs, provide financial assistance and can set up a payment plan when needed.

Genetic testing and counseling
If we think your child’s eye condition might be genetic, we may recommend genetic testing. The test results can help us personalize your child’s care and guide their treatment.
We perform genetic testing through the Center for Personalized Medicine. Our genetic counselors can guide you through the process and answer any questions you have before and after the testing.
Mental health support
The Vision Center team understands that vision impairment in childhood can impact your child’s mental health now and for life. We offer access to a dedicated therapist to help you navigate the complexities of living with childhood blindness and vision impairments.
Survivorship and Supportive Care Program
Cancer survivors often need support long after treatment ends. Our Survivorship and Supportive Care Program offers retinoblastoma survivors supportive resources that include mental health care, support groups, preventive services and help with the transition to adult care.
