Specialists in Children
Treating a child or adolescent who has cancer or a blood disorder is different than treating an adult. Each decision must be designed with the child’s development in mind. With 50-plus years of pediatric experience, the Children's Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases strives to help each child return to as normal a life as possible, as soon as possible.
- Every patient is seen by an interdisciplinary team, which may include pediatric oncologists and hematologists, radiation therapists, specialized nurses and physician assistants. Also on our team are experts in pain management, rehabilitation, child development and nutrition, along with art and music therapists.
- We understand a family’s world is changed in many ways when a child is diagnosed with cancer. Our social workers, each assigned to specific medical programs, guide families throughout the hospital experience. They serve as advocates, assist with education and connect families to support services, in the hospital and the community.
- With a variety of facilities within the Center –a medical service clinic, urgent care and day hospital – we can tailor our services to the individual needs of each family.
