The Heart Institute at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Main Campus, located at the intersection of West Sunset Boulevard and Rodney Drive, brings together pediatric inpatient, outpatient, and surgical cardiac care in one convenient location. Encompassing the second floor of the Anderson Pavilion, the Heart Institute has a team of more than 385 experts, who offer services ranging from advanced diagnostics and minimally invasive procedures to heart transplants.

Ambulatory Care Center

The Heart Institute Ambulatory Care Center provides comprehensive outpatient cardiac care, where patients can see specialists for initial diagnosis, follow-ups, and ongoing management of heart conditions. This medical office setting ensures families have convenient access to expert care without requiring a hospital stay.

Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories

Our experts perform minimally invasive procedures to diagnose and treat heart conditions in our two cardiac catheterization laboratories. Services include angioplasty, valvuloplasty, stent placement, and advanced electrophysiology studies to assess and treat arrhythmias.

Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU)

The 24-bed CTICU provides specialized, around-the-clock monitoring for children recovering from complex heart surgeries, heart transplants, or requiring advanced life support, such as ECMO or ventricular assist devices (VADs). Designed for critically ill cardiac patients, this unit offers dedicated infection prevention measures and HEPA-filtered rooms for transplant patients.

Cardiovascular Acute Inpatient Unit (CV Acute)

The 21-bed CV Acute Unit provides specialized inpatient care for children recovering from heart surgery, catheterization procedures, or requiring ongoing cardiac monitoring. Unlike the CTICU, which serves critically ill patients, this unit supports those needing intensive but stable recovery care, including VADs, Bi-PAP/CPAP support, and IV medications.

Echocardiogram (ECHO) Exam Rooms

Our expert sonographers and cardiologists specialize in child-friendly, non-invasive imaging, using advanced ultrasound technology to capture high-resolution images of the heart. With four dedicated outpatient ECHO exam rooms, the Heart Institute ensures precise diagnostics in a comfortable and convenient setting for families.
