About Robotic Surgery

The term "robotic surgery" is used to indicate a procedure in which a surgeon uses a robot to assist in performing extremely precise movements and procedures through a much smaller opening than would be possible for a human hand using traditional surgical methods.
The benefits to robotic surgery patients are similar to those of laparoscopic surgery. The robot's arms are equipped with high-definition 3-D cameras which enable experts to see right into the patient's body during complex procedures.
Our robot cannot function without human intervention. When one of our surgeons takes the controls and moves his hands, the robot mirrors that movement with its "arm" in exact accordance with the movement indicated by the surgeon. If a surgeon moves away from the robot controls during surgery to check radiologic images or other patient data, the robot is designed to automatically shut down. Using the robot, the surgeon can perform tiny, precise incisions and even perform suturing to close wounds once a procedure is finished.
