As a pediatric nurse practitioner, certified in primary and acute care, with an extensive background in pediatric acute and critical care as both a bedside nurse and advanced practice nurse, I have been fortunate to have a career caring for very sick children, and having the privilege of seeing so many of them have meaningful recoveries. Moving into the specialty of pain medicine in the last 10 years of my career has provided me the opportunity to utilize all of that background and experience as we see children across the lifespan and in multiple settings with pain issues. I always knew I wanted to be in pediatrics since the time I went to nursing school, and have never regretted working with children, and their families. I have also been involved over the course of my career with orientation and mentorship of new nurses, and was fortunate to be a Clinical Assistant Professor and Clinical Coordinator for the first cohort of students in the initial Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program at UCSF. Helping younger colleagues and those new to our profession has always been a passion that has given my work meaning.
