Rebecca Kaviani, MPAP, PA-C
At an early age, I had already experienced tremendous loss and illness within my family. I felt helpless in curing my ailing loved ones. I knew I needed to learn more, to arm myself with the skills needed to make a difference in the outcomes of others. This led me to study Biology and Chemistry and earn a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Miami. I then went on to earn a Master of Physician Assistant Practice from the University of Southern California. This schooling has given me a strong scientific foundation which has served me well throughout my career and made me into a life-long learner.
I have always had a calling to the field of Oncology, this is where I spent time shadowing while completing my undergraduate degree, and where I have worked since becoming a Physician Assistant. Though my first few jobs were with primarily adults, my professors often noted I would do well in a pediatric setting. At the time I didn’t think much of it, but when the opportunity to work at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles came around, it seemed like the right next step. Since working at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, I have found a culture of inclusivity and professional growth.
As an Advanced Practice Provider there is a balance between autonomy and collaboration that I feel has made a positive impact on the way we care for patients and families. None of us can do our jobs alone and when we work as a team we are capable of great things. I am part of something much bigger than myself!
