Physician Assistant

I chose to get into medicine out of a love of science, movement, and a desire to serve and connect with others. Originally, I planned to go into physical therapy for this same reason, but then I heard about the physician assistant profession and decided to give it a try! It was a lot to learn about the different parts of the human body and physician assistant school was a grueling experience. However, working with patients and helping them to get back to moving and doing all the things that they want to in life has been a very fulfilling career thus far and made the struggles worthwhile.

I have always enjoyed working with children. Even when I was younger, I liked to look after and play with cousins, neighbors, and the kids of family friends. I grew up helping to teach Sunday school classes at church and my first job out of college was to teach English to elementary school children in rural South Korea. After my transition to working as a PA, it felt natural to pursue a role in pediatric medicine.

My favorite part of being a care provider is being part of a team. I love it when we all pool our skills and accomplish something greater together than we could on our own. We do great work here at CHLA, take care of some of the sickest kids with the most complex issues, and have great outcomes thanks to all the fantastic staff, nurses, advanced practice providers, and physicians.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my wife and son, seeing friends and family, and spending time outdoors. Sometimes I can be caught in the kitchen cooking or baking something that looks a little funky or unconventional, but (usually) tastes pretty alright!
