Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Launches Ninth Annual Make March Matter® Fundraising Campaign

More than 80 Southern California businesses will rally the community during March in support of pediatric care and research at CHLA.

LOS ANGELES (March 1, 2024)Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) launched its ninth annual Make March Matter campaign Friday. Model, actress and CHLA supporter Kaia Gerber joined the hospital to kick off the campaign. Saving lives is everyone’s business, and the month-long fundraising drive empowers local businesses to rally community participation to raise $1 million or more in March to support children’s health in Los Angeles.

“At Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, we are dedicated to delivering world-class expertise in pediatric medicine and pioneering clinical and research breakthroughs, all while remaining deeply committed to our local community right here in Southern California,” says CHLA President and CEO Paul S. Viviano. “Make March Matter is especially dear to our hearts because we feel the groundswell of support from local businesses who stand behind our mission to create hope and build healthier futures for children.”

Since the campaign’s inaugural launch in 2016, local businesses and corporate partners have helped raise more than $12 million to aid in funding lifesaving care for children in Los Angeles and surrounding communities. Individuals can participate in this year’s campaign in very accessible ways including dining or ordering takeout from local food establishments, shopping, participating in events across the greater Los Angeles area, including fitness and cooking classes, and much more.

CHLA sees more than 700,000 patient visits a year – mostly by children in LA County, but also from all 50 states and from more than 90 countries. In addition to treating a broad range of health issues, from common illnesses to traumas and chronic diseases, the hospital is also dedicated to innovation, supporting advances in research designed to improve pediatric health outcomes and partnering with physicians across the nation to bring the best care to children in Los Angeles.

Corporate Partners

Businesses across the southland have pledged their support for CHLA throughout the month of March. Each business has selected a unique way to contribute to the campaign’s collective impact—some sell specific items with proceeds supporting CHLA, others devote a portion of overall sales for the entire month and still others create their own unique fundraising campaigns to encourage their employees and consumers to contribute. Panda Express, through its philanthropic arm Panda Cares, has been Make March Matter’s top fundraiser for the past eight years.

“Panda takes great pride in our 20+ year-long partnership with CHLA advancing children’s health, and we thank our guests and team members for their support every March in particular,” says Tina Hsing, Director of Panda Cares. “CHLA’s commitment to providing compassionate, family-centered care to patient families could not be more aligned with Panda Cares’ dedication to the health and well-being of children.”
