Talk Summary
Our research uses the Drosophila system to understand mechanisms of heart muscle development and disease in vertebrates. We use a multidisciplinary approach involving genetics, CRISPR, cell biology, and molecular biology to define the mechanistic basis of muscle transcription factor activity, and the roles of these regulatory factors in muscle development.
About the Speaker
Richard Cripps received BS and DPhil degrees from the University of York in the UK, before moving to the US for postdoctoral positions at San Diego State University and then the UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Richard was a faculty member at the University of New Mexico for 20 years, before returning to San Diego State in 2018.
