Talk Summary
Children with critical illness are at risk of neurologic injury and poor neurodevelopmental outcomes. High-risk populations include children with congenital heart disease, preterm neonates, and children who have suffered a head injury. We seek to inform hemodynamic management of these high-risk populations by improved neuromonitoring. In this talk we explore autoregulation monitoring as a method to optimize blood pressure management for children with heart disease. We explain perfusion pressure monitoring using the critical closing pressure and show potential relevance to the preterm neonate.
