Kids at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Skype with Marvel’s Thor Stars

IF

November 4 was no ordinary Monday evening for our patients and families. After all, how often do kids have the opportunity to Skype with celebrities as they walk the red carpet at a Hollywood premiere? We are happy to say, many of our patients experienced that special moment at the red carpet premiere for Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World!

Children’s Hospital Los Angeles partnered with The Walt Disney Company, Marvel and Skype to bring this special experience to patients and families, which also included their very own red carpet and an opportunity to meet the Thor character.

A number of kids had the opportunity to interview celebrities on the red carpet, including Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Kat Dennings and Stan Lee. “When I speak to Chris Hemsworth, I am going to ask how much he needed to work out to be Thor,” says Trey Torres, 14, a patient at the hospital. Tre plays football for his school and was hoping to pick-up some exercise pointers! When Tre’s moment to interview Chris arrived, he asked him what it was like to play Thor. “It’s really cool. I get to dress up and be a super hero. It’s like being a kid again,” Chris said. Evan Podsiad, 13, a recent heart transplant recipient who received care in The Heart Institute of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, explained when speaking to the celebrities at the red carpet premiere, that if he was a super hero, he would want to be able to manipulate matter.

It was a special evening for patients and families and we think the stars of Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World enjoyed it just as much! Many thanks to The Walt Disney Company, Marvel and Skype for helping make our kids smile.

Relive the fun!
