Work That Matters

Staff Spotlight: Brandi Scott, MS, CCRP

A few years ago, Brandi was living in Henderson, Nevada, wondering what her next career move should be. When a friend told her about her time as a clinical research coordinator, Brandi realized this could be the perfect fit. “I have a biology background, but I had no idea this career existed,” she recalls.

Within months, she had landed a job at USC and was off to Los Angeles. In 2019, she joined CHLA in the Clinical Research Support Office (CRSO) as a Clinical Research Coordinator III and was promoted last year to Clinical Research Supervisor.

Today, Brandi supports 20 research coordinators and assistants across nine divisions. “It’s very rewarding,” she says. “I really enjoy bringing research to our community, navigating new challenges with my teams and encouraging them to use their roles for their personal and professional development.”

She is grateful to Sharon Tang, BS, CCRP, Associate Director of Operations for the CRSO, for recognizing her leadership potential. “I always thought of myself as a good communicator and listener, but this job pushes you to be even better,” she says. “It’s been a great growing opportunity.”

A proud Georgia native, Brandi grew up in the town of Snelville, about 30 miles outside of Atlanta. “I’m a social butterfly,” she shares. “I like to try new restaurants, venture out to the beach and spend quality time with my friends and family.” Another light in her life: her 13-year-old Shih Tzu, Hemi.
