Kathleen Anulao, DNP, FNP-C, RNFA
I started working at Children's Hospital Los Angeles in 2005. It was my first full-time job as a nurse practitioner. I decided to stay because I like being part of a team that helps kids and families. Pediatric ophthalmology, which focuses on eye care for kids, is fascinating to me. I want to show how nursing plays a role in making sure kids get the best eye care possible. The best part of my job is working with kids of all ages, from babies born early to adults. I enjoy meeting a child in the emergency room, seeing them in the clinic, and being there to help during their surgery. Now, I have a leadership role, but I miss the close-knit feeling of the operating room and talking one-on-one with my patients. It's always nice to bump into kids I've treated before and see how they've grown. CHLA has always been a part of my life. My mom used to work in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) here, and my sister worked in the emergency department. I remember walking around the NICU as a kid with my mom. It's amazing to come back as an adult and work here too. Even though I tried not to be like my mom, I ended up following in her footsteps!
