A Board-certified pediatric rheumatologist, Dr. Marzan joined CHLA in 2003 as an attending physician and for more than 15 years has served as Program Director of CHLA’s Pediatric Rheumatology Fellowship Training Program. She is an active clinical researcher with major areas of interest including autoimmune diseases in children, treatment of juvenile arthritis, pediatric systemic lupus erythematosus and antiphospholipid antibodies. Dr. Marzan has authored and contributed to more than 100 research publications, book chapters, abstracts, presentations and poster sessions. She also is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Rheumatology and is highly involved in local and national organizations dedicated to advancing care and research for arthritis and other rheumatic diseases.

Dr. Marzan earned her medical degree and a bachelor’s in basic medical science from the University of the Philippines in Manila. She completed both her pediatric internship and residency at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, and her fellowship in Pediatric Rheumatology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

As Division Chief, Dr. Marzan oversees clinical care delivery and quality; budget and financial performance; strategic planning; recruitment and program development, all while ensuring the integration of training and research programs with clinical services throughout the hospital. As a member of the Department of Pediatrics Leadership team, she also leads the Division’s support of departmental goals in research, education and faculty recruitment and development.
