Family Philanthropy Benefits Research on Nephrology

A documentary film about the GOFARR Fund for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles was recently screened at the Sun Valley Film Festival for Future Filmmakers. The film, “Believe: The Story of the GOFARR Fund,” was made by Amanda Schenkman and tells the story about her twin brother Gabriel and his journey with a congenital kidney condition.

The Schenkman Family Fund supports nephrology research at CHLA overseen by Roger De Filippo, MD, FACS, FAAP and Laura Perin, PhD. At the GOFARR Laboratory for Organ Regenerative Research and Cell Therapeutics in Urology, De Filippo and Perin focus on the development of new stem cell therapeutics and other techniques for organ regeneration.
