Kameelah Gateau, MD, MS, is an Attending Neonatologist in the Fetal and Neonatal Institute at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. She completed her residency and chief residency in pediatrics at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and her neonatal-perinatal medicine fellowship at L.A. General Medical Center.

Dr. Gateau has authored primary peer-reviewed literature on the mental health effects of caring for critically ill neonates on caregivers of color. Her research interests include the ecobiodevelopmental model of childhood health and its interaction with the toxic stress response in the perinatal/neonatal period. For her contributions to research, she was awarded the 2022 Society for Pediatric Research Award to Enhance Diversity in the Research Workforce.

Her clinical interests are in the management and outcomes of comorbidities associated with extremely premature birth. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Gateau is dedicated to furthering a diverse, inclusive and equitable environment for clinicians and families.
