Jonathan M. Tan, MD, MPH, MBI is the Interim Vice Chair for Analytics and Clinical Effectiveness, Department of Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine and an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. In addition, Dr. Tan serves on the faculty of the USC's Population, Health and Place Ph.D Program as part of the Spatial Sciences Institute. Dr. Tan is board certified in Anesthesiology, Pediatric Anesthesiology, Clinical Informatics, and Medical Quality.

Dr. Tan completed his undergraduate education and received his bachelor's degrees in both Health and Society, and Biology at the University of Rochester. He subsequently earned his MPH from Yale University at the School of Epidemiology and Public Health, where he focused on health care policy and administration. Dr. Tan completed his medical school education at the SUNY Stony Brook School of Medicine and his residency training in Anesthesiology at the SUNY Stony Brook School of Medicine. He went on to complete his fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesiology at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Following his clinical training, he was awarded the Joseph E. Robert Jr. Fellowship in Pediatric Innovation at the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation at the Children’s National Health System in Washington, DC. Dr. Tan then moved to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine and the Department of Biomedical and Health Informatics. During this time, Dr. Tan was appointed as a Senior Fellow at both the Leonard Davis Institute for Health Economics, and at the Center for Public Health Initiatives at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his Master's in Biomedical Informatics at the Oregon Health and Science University School of Medicine.

Dr. Tan’s research focuses on developing data linkage techniques from electronic health records, census, environmental exposure, and business intelligence data to understand the impact of location and social determinants of health on children. Through the use of spatial analysis, Dr. Tan is improving the way we risk stratify, communicate and care for pediatric patients.
