Darren Berman, MD

Darren P. Berman, MD is Director of Congenital Interventional Catheterization in The Heart Institute. Dr. Berman leads our hospital’s Cardiac Catheterization Lab, while also fostering innovative research and championing the translation of new devices and techniques into patient care.

Dr. Berman was previously Co-Director of Cardiac Catheterization and Interventional Therapy at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, and an Associate Professor at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. He completed his pediatric residency and pediatric cardiology fellowship at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and a fellowship in congenital interventional cardiac catheterization at Miami Children’s Hospital. He is Board-certified in both pediatrics and pediatric cardiology.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Berman is an active researcher with interests in transcatheter valve therapies and device development. He has participated in and led national trials of innovative device treatments for children. His recruitment will broaden the scope of activity at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles to include new catheter-based treatments for children and young adults with congenital heart diseases.
