KOST 103.5 FM and KTLA to Help Launch Children’s Hospital Los Angeles’ Annual Holiday Fundraising Campaign With Live Broadcasts From the Hospital on Giving Tuesday

LOS ANGELES (November 26, 2018) – Los Angeles’ number one morning shows for radio and television--iHeartMedia Los Angeles’ KOST 103.5 FM’s The Ellen K Morning Show, syndicated nationally on 30 stations, and KTLA Morning News--will help kick off the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) holiday fundraising campaign by broadcasting live from the hospital on Giving Tuesday, the global philanthropy-driven alternative to Black Friday that encourages individuals to support causes that are meaningful to them.

On Tuesday, November 27 from 5 a.m. – 10 a.m., both KOST 103.5 and KTLA will dedicate their respective programming to Giving Tuesday and highlight the world-class pediatric medical care that Children’s Hospital Los Angeles provides.  KOST 103.5’s Ellen K, Ryan Manno and Darlene Rodrigo, and KTLA Morning News anchor Megan Henderson will speak with patient families, hospital leaders and other special guests throughout the morning and encourage their respective audiences to support the hospital and donate by texting CHLA to 41444 or 91999, or visiting kost1035.com/chla or CHLA.org/KTLA.

“This is the third year in a row KOST 103.5 and their listeners have helped us kick off Giving Tuesday, and now we’re thrilled to welcome KTLA to share this special day with their audience,” says Children’s Hospital Los Angeles President and CEO Paul S. Viviano. “Each year our community rallies in support of our hospital and we at CHLA are so grateful. Credit Unions For Kids and Porto’s Bakery and Café are offering special fundraising opportunities for the community to take part in and I want to extend my thanks to our partners for inspiring others to give back.”

“It is a privilege to be a part of Giving Tuesday and CHLA.  We are all so blessed to have such an amazing place with caring and skilled professionals to love and treat our children,” Ellen K says. “I will forever be grateful to CHLA for being there for my family when we needed them.  Through Giving Tuesday we can all help CHLA continue to provide loving care to kids and their families.”

“CHLA relies on the philanthropic support of the very community it serves to fulfill its mission. As a volunteer, I have seen up close how the giving hearts of others help save and support these special children,” says Megan Henderson. “I am so proud that our KTLA Family will join the CHLA Family on Giving Tuesday to help this incredible hospital thrive.”

Kicking off on Giving Tuesday, CHLA’s year-end fundraising campaign is a month-long appeal to the community to donate funds that will directly support the pediatric medical care CHLA provides.  CHLA is the primary safety net hospital for all families in need of highly specialized pediatric care. Donations to the campaign through the end of the year will ensure that every patient treated at CHLA receives the critical, lifesaving care they need. Credit Unions for Kids has once again partnered with CHLA in support of the campaign and will challenge the community to match their donation of $650,000 by midnight on December 31. Porto’s Bakery and Café will donate a portion of cheese roll sales from all four of its Los Angeles area locations Nov. 27- Dec. 4.

Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is one of the top pediatric academic medical and research institutions in the United States and relies on the generosity of community support. Each and every gift to CHLA helps the hospital provide care to patients from not only the Los Angeles area, but from all 50 states and from more than 25 countries around the world.
