Children’s Hospital Los Angeles President and CEO Paul S. Viviano: Don’t Roll Back Medicaid – Support Bipartisan Legislation to Strengthen Medicaid for Children

For Immediate Release

LOS ANGELES – Today the U.S. Senate voted to proceed with efforts that could dismantle the protections and coverage established under the Medicaid program and the Affordable Care Act.

Nearly half of the nation’s Medicaid recipients are children. Rolling back this program would threaten access to care that children have relied on to survive and thrive.

In the interest of our Nation’s future, Congress must protect health care for children. We continue to urge Senators to go back to the drawing board to produce bipartisan legislation that protects Medicaid for children and rejects attempts to roll back this critical program that provides health care for more than 30 million children in the U.S.

Don’t fail our children, Congress. Medicaid must be strengthened—not cut, capped or block-granted - in order to protect the health of children and their families.
