Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Offers After-Hours Urgent Care Services in Arcadia

The Arcadia urgent care clinic is staffed by CHLA’s own world-class pediatric Emergency Department physicians and clinicians.

LOS ANGELES (January 9, 2023) – Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) is now offering urgent care services at its Arcadia Specialty Care Center, providing a convenient care option for families across the San Gabriel Valley. The Arcadia urgent care clinic is staffed by CHLA’s own world-class pediatric Emergency Department (ED) physicians and clinicians.

“At Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, we are constantly exploring new and improved avenues to further our mission of creating hope and building healthier futures for children,” says Lara Khouri, MBA, MPH, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. “We are thrilled to be able to expand the pediatric outpatient services we provide in our Arcadia Specialty Care Center with this new urgent care offering, giving San Gabriel Valley families after-hours access to pediatric ED specialists from the top-ranked children’s hospital on the West Coast at a neighborhood clinic closer to home.”

CHLA’s care team at the Arcadia urgent care clinic will communicate visit details with the child’s primary pediatrician and, when needed, can schedule follow-up appointments with CHLA’s nationally ranked subspecialists (often right back at the Arcadia location). CHLA’s pediatric experts can care and provide for:

  • broken bones and other orthopedic injuries
  • flu symptoms or cough
  • asthma attacks
  • diarrhea or vomiting
  • rapid testing for strep throat and COVID-19
  • diagnostic tests, including X-ray and urinalysis

“It’s important for families who seek care in Emergency Departments (ED) to know that priority for treatment will go first to patients who need care for serious illnesses or injuries,” says Alan Nager, MD, MHA, Director of the Division of Emergency and Transport Medicine at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. “Urgent care clinics in the community often allow patients to be seen sooner and faster than through a busy ED, which is why we are thrilled to provide CHLA-caliber urgent care services in the San Gabriel Valley.”
