Little Johnny's Journey: Learning to Live with Crouzon Syndrome

Johnny is the youngest of six kids and the only one affected with Crouzon Syndrome. He was born on June 27, 2010 and the entire family was happy to receive the second boy in our family. When Johnny was diagnosed he came to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles through a recommendation from Shriners Hospital. When we arrived we were put in the hands of Dr. McComb in Neurosurgery and Dr. Hammoudeh in Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery.

It was a struggle to get the correct approvals but finally on October 31, 2011 Johnny had his operation and a second procedure on March 2, 2012. These operations have been a blessing because we have seen so much improvement.  He’s reaching his milestones and we are blessed by having these doctors. Little Johnny has a bright future ahead with the help of the craniofacial team. I have learned to accept my son’s condition and treat him just the same way as my other kids. Friends and family treat him and see him just like any other 2 year old.
