Latin Artist Gerardo Ortiz Serenades CHLA Patient
Recently, world-renowned Latin artist, Gerardo Ortiz, came to visit patients and staff of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles with gifts in tow. Ortiz and DEL Records generously donated funds and items to support CHLA’s efforts in treating kids better. First stopping by the HOPE Resource Center, Ortiz was greeted by Teen Impact patients with a large sign that read “Gracias Gerardo!” Here he kindly spent his time asking patients what their hobbies were and what kind of music they like listening to. One patient, who seemed wise beyond his years, honestly answered in Spanish, “I love to listen to classical music.”
He also visited the Fourth Floor Playroom to color coloring pages and play Hungry, Hungry Hippo with the kids. For patients who were unable to come to play room, Ortiz made bedside visits in the Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases and the 6th Floor in the Marion and John Anderson Pavilion. However, one patient got an extra special interaction with the famed artist: a serenade of Eres una Niña, meaning You’re a Young Girl. The interaction was caught on film and the young girl, who is a huge fan of Ortiz, was over the moon.
Thank you for the generosity and kind words to our patients! You have lifted their spirits!
