Family Resource Center

The Helen and Bill Close Family Resource Center is a quiet place for the whole family to learn about how to care for themselves or a family member who is at home or in the hospital. The Family Resource Center also offers educational classes through Parent University.

The center is open to everyone. Visitors do not need to have a child being treated at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles to use these resources.

Hours:  Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The center may be open during other hours. Please stop by or call in advance.If you or a family member are sick, we ask that you please stay home until you are well or call 323-361-7698 to see if you can receive assistance over the phone.

When you visit the center, you'll be able to:

General Guidelines

  • Children cannot be left unattended and must be supervised by an adult at all times.
  • No food or drinks are allowed in the center. Only bottled water may be brought in. 
  • Visitors may not talk on cell phones while in the center.

  • Wireless internet access
    Visitors may bring their own laptop. Under Wireless Networks, select CHLA-Guest to connect. You will need to enter your email address and accept the terms of use. A limited number of outlets are available for plugging in laptops. USB flash drives cannot be loaded on our computers.
  • Scanning to email
  • Fax
  • Copier
  • Printing 
    There is a three-page printing limit for non-medically related materials (e.g. pictures, lyrics, etc.). We do our best to accommodate printing of treatment-related materials. 

GetWellNetwork

Use the GetWellNetwork to watch patient education videos, learn about our hospital and more. Take charge of your health or help a family member by searching the Health Education Library on www.CHLA.org.

  • There is a 15-minute time limit for use when others are waiting.
  • Downloading or uploading content to or from the internet is not permitted.
  • It is not possible to print directly from the GetWellNetwork. Desk staff are available to assist you with printing or emailing information.
