The LA-HIP organizes college campus visits where interns have the opportunity to meet with admission officials, current students, LA-HIP alumni as well as faculty teaching in the scientific and biology departments. The LA-HIP Program offers college workshops, financial aid counseling and guides students through the application process.
The success rate of our LA-HIP students and alumni is something to be proud of.
- The LA-HIP program has accepted and trained 77 students since 2006. Sixty-one have matriculated to some of the most prestigious colleges and universities in the nation. Sixteen interns are currently in the process of applying to college. Six of the inaugural eight interns from the LA-HIP Class of 2006 have graduated from college and are preparing for their next academic steps.
- The STEP-UP program graduated over 120 students since 2007 with more than 30 percent having graduated from college since then. Research training and career development has helped many of these students to successfully enter postgraduate programs including medical school and graduate school.
