Marion and John E. Anderson Pavilion

We provide inpatient care for children in the Marion and John E. Anderson Pavilion.  Named for generous benefactor and hospital Board Co-Chair, Marion Anderson, and her husband, John, this new building is a premiere health care setting for the care of children.  Opened in July 2011, this hospital building is allowing us to transform the practice of pediatric medicine, benefiting our patients, families and hospital caregivers for generations to come.

Child-Friendly Setting

Virtual Tour of the Pavilion

We asked children, families, clinicians, and former and current patients to help us design the Marion and John E. Anderson Pavilion.  Their comments helped us create an inpatient hospital facility that incorporates cheery surroundings, more areas to be a kid and more space for families.  Read more about our child-friendly setting.

Family-Centered Care Environment

The patient rooms in the Pavilion have distinct "family zones," offering space for parents to stay overnight in the same room with their child. In addition, the Pavilion incorporates outdoor dining facilities and spacious gardens, the state-of-the-art Helen and Bill Close Family Resource Center with Internet access, multilingual print and video reference materials and referrals to support groups, and a 24-hour Family Pantry to meet the needs of families who want to remain at the bedside around the clock. Each floor includes a family lounge with spaces for quiet and reflection, as well as family alcoves. Read more about our family-centered care environment.

State-of-the-Science Care

The Marion and John E. Anderson Pavilion is able to withstand and remain fully operational after a major earthquake, meeting the strict seismic requirements for hospitals in the state of California.  In addition, the entire Pavilion has state-of-the-art HEPA-filtration, patient vital signs that are electronically tracked and stored in real time within a child's electronic medical record and patient rooms for critically ill children that are equipped with surgical booms to allow for procedures at the bedside if necessary.  Read more about our cutting-edge approach to care in our new facility.
