Specialty Services

Role of Speech and Language Pathologists

Our therapists begin services with a comprehensive evaluation. A treatment plan is then developed which personalizes the care to be delivered. The therapist works with both you and your child to ensure the best outcomes and to help your child feel successful as soon as possible.

All of our therapists’ efforts are directed toward making the speech evaluation and/or therapy beneficial and enjoyable for your child. A focus on individualized, personalized care demonstrates our commitment to best outcomes.

Outpatient Speech Therapy

Our therapists begin outpatient services with a comprehensive evaluation. Prior to the evaluation, the therapist will gather information regarding your child’s medical and developmental history, and review your concerns.

During the evaluation, the therapist will gather additional information from you, observe your child’s communication interactions informally, and/or administer standardized formal tests. If a problem is identified from the testing that is not “developmental” in nature (in other words, your child will not “grow out of it”), speech and/or language therapy is usually recommended.

The therapist will thoroughly explain the problem to you and your family, and make specific recommendations for treatment. Your child may be referred to other specialists for additional assessment or treatment. Finally, information may be given to you on how to work with your child at home.
