Training to use the analyzers is suggested to those who plan to perform routine (weekly) flow cytometry. Users who will use less frequently will need to consider that practice improves retention, before scheduling a training session.
The training session is modified to meet the needs of the user. Those coming with hands-on experience are expected to demonstrate proficiency to core personnel. Novice users are walked through the acquisition process, instrument optimization, data management, and instrument maintenance. Software manuals are available for review. Notebooks are kept with each instrument describing the user responsibilities, to improve ease of use.
Benefits of Training
Trained users are given access to the computer login password for their group. Untrained persons may accompany trained users, but are to remain supervised by the trained user and may not be left alone to operate the cytometer.
