The Biostatistics Core was established in order to further the clinical research activities of our hospital's physicians by providing Biostatistics education and consulting.
Services
The Biostatistics Core is able to address all issues involved with the design and analysis of clinical and laboratory studies. These services include: formulating research questions, IRB and grant applications, sample size and power estimation, data management and forms development, performing statistical analysis, manuscript preparation and publication. In addition members of the Core give presentations on Biostatistics topics as well as the use of Microsoft Access for data management.
Equipment and Software
The Core has available computers for project use in the Core facilities area. The computers contain software such as STATA, SAS, Sigma Plot, SPSS, Minitab. Also the Liquid Office program is available for assistance with data form creation and data entry.
Fee Structure
The Core services can be obtained using either an hourly service ($90/hr) or a negotiated fee for a given project. Because the Core is committed to expanding the research activities at our institution, some activities such as assisting principal investigators with internal applications for the Committee on Clinical Investigations at our organization are performed free of charge.
