Apply for the Respiratory Care Practitioner Residency Program


Qualifying Criteria

If you are a new graduate or an RCP with a total of less than 1 year of RCP experience by the start of the program, you are eligible for the RCP Residency Program. A graduate of an advanced RCP program is preferred. The number of positions in the program is limited. 

Note: You must have your active California RCP license or work permit by the Friday prior to the start of the program and you must have an active American Heart Association CPR card to start the program.  

Online Application

You may only apply for the residency program when the program indicates that it is accepting applications. Follow the steps below:

  1. The online application will be available May 11, 2012 at 9 a.m. through May 25, 2012 at 5 p.m.
  2. Complete the entire application (blank applications will not be accepted).    
  3. A packet with more information will be e-mailed to you within 72 hours after you apply online (instructions for the packet are below).


Complete the Packet

Once you receive your packet you must complete the emailed forms, including the required documents.

  • The online application will be available May 11, 2012 at 9 a.m. through May 25, 2012 at 5 p.m.
  • Current resume
  • 2 Reference letters, 1 from a clinical instructor
  • Unofficial College transcripts
  • Dear Applicant Letter
  • Specialty Training Contract
  • Condition of Employment

Completed residency packet can be mailed or hand delivered to Children's Hospital Los Angeles - Human Resources, (the address is included in the packet). Note: packets will not be distributed at the RCP Residency Initial Interview.  Packets will only be distributed via email after an online application has been completed (see instructions above)


Current American Heart Association CPR Card

The card must be current at the start of the RCP Residency program and  must not expire for 6 months into the program.

 
Interview Process

After you submit your packet to the Human Resources Department, if selected, you will receive an invitation to the RCP Residency initial interview meeting.  You must RSVP to reserve a spot for the initial interview.  Initial interviews will be scheduled (for those who have completed the online application and returned their packets to Human Resources) and NO Walk-Ins will be accepted.
