On Friday, March 12th, Ken Baker will embark on a 150-mile inline skating ultramarathon to benefit Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. The Great Skate for Kids will start in San Diego and end March 14th at the STAPLES Center in downtown Los Angeles in time to drop the puck for the Kings game versus the Nashville Predators.

The Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) two-day course is designed for physicians, registered nurses, medical students, paramedics, and respiratory therapists working in acute care hospital settings.  This course teaches the recognition and management of cardiac arrest, shock, and resuscitation to infants and children.  This PALS Course is based upon the recommendations set by the American Heart Association.

Transplant Day is a one-day course designed to provide an opportunity to learn about the various transplantations performed at CHLA; the pathophysiology leading to transplantation; and nursing management issues in the post transplant patient.  The day will focus on three - four transplantations from among the variety performed at CHLA: heart, lung, bone marrow, liver, renal, and small bowel.

The Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) is a 16-hour course presented by the Emergency Nurses Association, designed to provide core level pediatric knowledge and psychomotor skills associated with the delivery of professional nursing care to the pediatric patient.  Content is delivered through lectures and skills stations.  Upon successful completion of the course, each participant will receive a verification card.  Expiration of verification card will occur four years from the first day of the month in which the card was issued.  Only Registered Nurses will be issued certification cards.
