General Tips

1.Avoid dairy products and foods that contain milk. Many processed foods contain milk protein (ie luncheon meats, margarine, cakes, sauces, and cookies)

2.Read labels for the presence of milk protein

3. Milk-free diet may be low in Calcium, Protein, Vitamin A, D, and riboflavin

4.  Supplementation and dietary adjustments are likely required for a child on a milk free diet- consult with your dietitian

5. The designation “parve” means a product is free of milk. “Lactose Free” does not mean a product is free of milk protein

  • Milk forms (Includes condensed, derivative, dry, evaporative, goats milk and milk from other animals, malted milk, milk solids, milk protein, whole, skim, 2%, milk)
  • Artificial butter flavor
  • Butter butter-fat, butter-oil
  • Buttermilk
  • Casein (casein hydrolysate)
  • Caseinates (in all forms)
  • Cheese
  • Cream
  • Cottage cheese
  • Curds
  • Custards
  • Ghee
  • Half & Half
  • Lactalbumin, lactalbumin phosphate
  • Lactoferrin
  • Lactulose
  • Nisin
  • Nougat
  • Pudding
  • Recaldent
  • Rennet Casein
  • Sour cream, sour cream solids
  • Sour milk solids
