Soy Allergy

1.  Avoid obvious sources of soy in the diet - tofu (soybean curd), soybeans, soy flour, soy formulas, soy granules, soy milk, soy sauce, miso, and tempeh

2.  Do not eat meats or other products containing hydrolyzed vegetable protein, textured vegetable protein, or vegetable protein (soy protein may be included)

3.  Do not eat products containing lecithin or soy lecithin

4.  Avoid cold-pressed soybean oils or other soybean oil products that contain residual soy proteins.  (Many soybean oils are not believed to be non-allergenic.)

5.  Check the labels of the following product categories that may contain soy, and avoid those containing soy

  • Candies
  • Cereal
  • Cheese substitutes
  • Coffee replacements
  • Commercial fruit products
  • Commercial vegetable products
  • Desserts
  • Meats (that may have soy additives such as cold cuts, sausage,  hamburger)
  • Milk or cream replacements
  • Pastas
  • Sauces
  • Soups
  • Vegetable oil sprays
