Surgical Admitting Nurses in Action

Pre-Surgical Tours

We help patients and families feel more comfortable with surgery before they arrive by leading special Pre-Surgical Tours.

The nurses of the surgical admitting unit are dedicated to providing quality, family-centered care to patients preparing to undergo surgical interventions/procedures under general anesthesia or sedation involving one or more of the following services:

  • Anesthesiology
  • Bone Marrow Transplant
  • Cardiothoracic Surgery/Cardiac Catheterization
  • Dental Surgery
  • Gastroenterology
  • General Pediatric Surgery
  • Neurosurgery
  • Oncology
  • Ophthalmology
  • Orthopaedic Surgery
  • Otolaryngology
  • Plastic Surgery
  • Radiology
  • Urology

We assist in the preparation for surgery, a diverse population of children of all ages ranging from infants to adults for surgery in our main operating room as well as our ambulatory surgical center.

Surgical Admitting Staff

Our nurses are clinical professionals, registered nurses and pediatric nurse practitioners.  Together and in conjunction with the Division of Anesthesiology, we assess healthy, as well as chronically ill and fragile patients, preparing them prior to being cared for by anesthesia and the surgical team.

"I have been a nurse for 35 years and I have never been as proud of where I work as I am now."
