Collaboration with Industry Associations
In order to maintain the highest quality care, the hospital actively participates and holds memberships with local, state, and national associations dedicated to improving care for children.
California Children’s Hospital Association (CCHA)
The hospital holds a membership in CCHA, a nonprofit advocacy organization representing eight children’s hospitals in California. Advocacy focus points include:
- Quality and clinical outcomes
- Capital financing
- Coverage and access for children
- Children with special healthcare needs
California Hospital Association (CHA)
Based in Sacramento, CHA is the statewide leader representing the interests of hospitals and health systems in California. CHA includes nearly 450 hospital and health system members, and more than 150 Executive, Associate and Personal members. CHA provides members with state and federal representation and advocacy in the legislative and regulatory arenas through an agenda designed to improve access to quality, cost-effective health care services.
Child Health Corporation of America (CHCA)
The hospital holds a membership in CHCA. It is a business alliance of children’s hospitals representing more than 20,000 physicians, 100,000 employees, $14 billion in revenue and $1.8 billion in overall medical, surgical and pharmaceutical products. CHCA Owner Hospitals are North America’s leading children’s hospitals and are widely known for their excellence in caring for America’s children.
Institute for Diversity in Health Management
The hospital is a member of the Institute for Diversity. The Institute for Diversity in Health Management, a nonprofit organization, is affiliated with the American Hospital Association (AHA) and works closely with health services organizations and educators to expand leadership opportunities for ethnic minorities in health services management. The Institute’s mission is to increase the number of people of color in health services administration to better reflect the increasingly diverse communities they serve, and to improve opportunities for professionals already in the health care field. To accomplish this, the Institute has designed several initiatives to generate significant long-term results through educational programs, summer internships, professional development and leadership conferences. The Institute for Diversity in Health Management is committed to expanding health care leadership opportunities for ethnically, culturally, and racially diverse individuals, and increasing the number of these individuals entering and advancing in the field.
Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI)
The IHI is an independent not-for-profit organization helping to lead the improvement of health care throughout the world. Founded in 1991 and based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, IHI works to accelerate improvement by building the will for change, cultivating promising concepts for improving patient care, and helping health care systems put those ideas into action. CHLA participates in its 5 Million Lives Campaign, which is a national initiative that aims to protect patients from five million incidents of medical harm in US hospitals between December 2006 and December 2008.
National Association for Children's Hospitals and Related Institutions (NACHRI)
The hospital is a member of NACHRI. This is an organization of children's hospitals with 218 members in the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Italy, China, Mexico and Puerto Rico. NACHRI promotes the health and well-being of all children and their families through support of children's hospitals and health systems that are committed to excellence in providing health care to children. NACHRI works to ensure all children’s access to health care and children's hospitals’ continuing ability to provide services needed by children. Children’s hospitals work to ensure the health of all children through clinical care, research, training and advocacy.
