Construction Staff Help Kids

While our New Hospital Building is built, these kind-hearted and dedicated workers are stopping in to our Blood Donor Center to give the gift of life to children. 

During the month of July 2008, the hospital is actively recruiting donors from the hundreds of construction staff employed by Rudolph and Sletten, and their subcontractors to donate life-saving blood or platelets. 

The Goal

Congratulations to our generous construction workers.  They set a goal of donating 250 units and actually gave 269 units!!

Each year, the hospital transfused 20,000 units of blood to support the care of children in areas such as:

• General surgery
• Surgical transplant
• Stem cell transplant
• Sickle cell anemia treatment 
• Newborn and Infant Critical Care Unit
• Pediatric Intensive Care Unit

The Need

The Blood Donor Center experiences an annual shortage of blood able to be used to help our patients during the summer months. 

July and August are the most difficult months as families are on vacation and school is out of session.
