Pathology and Laboratory Medicine

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is one of the most comprehensive pediatric pathology programs in the nation. The department offers some of the most sophisticated methods available for evaluating the full range of patient specimens, including blood and other fluids, tissue biopsies, surgical resections and other samples.

According to the College of American Pathologists, 70 percent of all clinical decisions, from diagnosis to therapy and prognosis, depend on the expertise of the pathologists and clinical laboratory scientists providing the lab results. Our skilled, Board-certified pathologists and laboratorians are internationally recognized for their subspecialty expertise and maintain active professional consultation and outreach program services.
