As a Pediatric Hematology and Oncology fellow at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, you will be immersed in a busy, high-volume program where you will have the opportunity to care for children with a wide range of new diagnoses.
The average hematology and oncology inpatient census is 52 per day, and there are over 1,000 new diagnoses (combined hematology and oncology) made per year.
Our fellows take care of patients from all walks of life with diagnoses ranging from the most common in our field, to the rarest conditions, often never seen by other doctors.
Our program’s strength lies in its clinical volume and in the broad spectrum of disease processes we see - a breadth and depth of experience that is unparalleled on the west coast. In addition to clinical experience, we provide you with the mentoring and research opportunities (both laboratory-based and clinical) needed to take the next step in your development from clinical fellow to junior faculty.
Our hospital opened a new inpatient facility, the Marion and John E. Anderson Pavilion, in July 2011, which includes a new Pediatric Hematology & Oncology floor and Bone Marrow Transplant Unit.
