During Treatment

 

As the core component of the Childrens Orthopaedic Center, our division provides full-service, family-centered care, with parents integrally involved in its multifaceted, state-of-the-art approach to treatment. We are one of the nation's largest and most comprehensive programs dedicated to children and adolescents.

We provide the services of orthopaedic surgeons along with nurse specialists, orthopaedic oncologists, rehabilitation specialists, prosthetists, physical therapists, and biomechanical engineers, in evaluating and treating childhood problems affecting bones, muscles, and joints. Among these are congenital and developmental abnormalities of the arms, legs, and spine, as well as traumatic injuries to these areas.


PROGRAMS AND SERVICES


METRICS
We provide care in more than 18,000 outpatient visits and more than 1,600 operative procedures in the areas of fracture care, sports medicine, spine disorders, pediatric oncology, joint care, and cerebral palsy, among others. These include one of the largest number of pediatric spinal deformity cases in the country and this region's highest number of pediatric bone tumor and congenital hand deformities.

OUR STAFF
Our faculty is comprised of nationally and internationally recognized pediatric orthopaedists, all fellowship-trained and Board-certified members of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. They are joined by pediatric nurses, dedicated operating room staff, pediatric physical and occupational therapists, rehabilitation specialists, prosthetists, and biomechanical engineers.

CLINICAL SETTINGS
The Division of Orthopaedic Surgery provides care in its outpatient clinic, in the newly constructed Burtie Green Bettingen Surgery Center, and in the state-of-the-art John C. Wilson, Jr. Motion Analysis Laboratory.

RESEARCH ACTIVITIES
