Dr. Aura Kuperberg obtained her doctoral degree in Social Work from the University of Southern California in 1994 and has a dual master's degree in Social Work and Gerontology from USC. Dr. Kuperberg founded Teen Impact in 1989 when she saw the need to create a special community for teens battling cancer.  Dr. Kuperberg has since dedicated her life to her unwavering belief that every teen and young adult survivor should have the opportunity to experience peer-support in a group where they are truly understood.

Stephanie Naso Palmer, Ph.D.
Clinical Director of Programs
Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Stephanie Palmer received her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University, California School of Professional Psychology, in September 2003.   Dr. Palmer has served as a consultant for Teen Impact since 2001, and now develops and oversees the clinical programs.  Her goal is to provide a unique and fun environment that provides encouragement, hope and inspiration for all group members.

Octavio Zavala, B.S.
Program Coordinator
Octavio (Tavo) Zavala began his involvement with Teen Impact over 16 years ago as one of its founding teen members.  Tavo was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia  when he was 12 years old, and while receiving treatment at Children's Hospital Los Angeles he joined the newly-founded organization.  In 1999 Tavo transitioned into the role of program coordinator of Teen Impact, thus becoming the "Jack of all Teen Impact trades."  Tavo has been an inspirational leader to many teens and young adults over the past 16 years, and has been a powerful force in shaping the program.

Joseph Landin
Office Manager
Joseph Landin embodies the true spirit of survivorship.  Joseph was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 1975.  He joined Teen Impact as a teen in 1988, and for the last 9 years Joseph has been a full-time, volunteer office manager for the program.  Joseph makes sure that everything at Teen Impact runs smoothly, which is why he is simply known to everyone as "The Chief."
